The Secure Data Warehouse is an internet-enabled application, which allows:
- Pharmaceutical companies (Sponsors) to control the distribution of their Consumer Medicine Information (CMI) and Product Information (PI) to approved users
- On-distributors – such as publishers, government agencies, associations – to access the Sponsor’s current CMI and PI
How the service works
The Sponsor submits the CMI and PI to the Secure Data Warehouse. After healthlinks.net converts it to the required format, the Sponsor reviews, approves it and - at a date and time of their choosing - releases the medicine information so On-distributors can access it.
Benefits
- The service guarantees Sponsors have a secure and centralised repository of their CMI and PI with real time delivery – as soon as a Sponsor releases the CMI or PI into the Secure Data Warehouse, it’s immediately available to On-distributors.
- Sponsors retain complete ownership and and control over their data. They decide when to release it to the market; who can access it; and in what format.
- Sponsors have a cost-effective way of housing and distributing the CMI and PI, and are able to manage their documents in a fully transparent way using the Secure Data Warehouse reporting function.
- healthlinks.net works under legal agreement with all parties both providing or using the medicine information. The Electronic Distribution Working Group (EDWG), which represents the interests of Sponsors and other industry stakeholders, provides input into policy on electronic distribution of CMI and PI.
What makes the service unique
The Secure Data Warehouse is the only Internet-enabled service of its kind in Australia.
healthlinks.net and EDWG have built an infrastructure comprising legal agreements and procedure plans to which all stakeholders are a party. The service was developed – and is continuously improved – through extensive industry consultation. As a key part of the service, we proactively monitor the medicine information being used by some of the major On-distributors to ensure that the documents are up-to-date. All these factors come together to produce a service delivery model that assures currency of medicine information in the marketplace.
The service delivers wide distribution of the Sponsors’ most current data through a secure and single centralised repository so all users – whether Sponsors who distribute the data, or On-distributors who access the data – need only go to one place.
